Pokemon Global Revolution lets you play classic-style Pokemon games on your Windows PC.

As in the original Pokemon games from Nintendo, this lightweight program lets you become a Pokemon trainer like Ash from the television series. First, choose to play a boy or girl trainer with a couple of customization options for each. Enter your name, then pick either the Kanto or Hoenn Region to start in. These are two distinct games to play; each has its own map, catchable Pokemon creatures and objectives.

Those who are familiar with the Nintendo games can expect to see a lot of familiar faces and names, starting with Professor Oak. The fun of traveling around, capturing new Pokemon, battling them with trainers you meet and leveling them up is familiar too. There are plenty of things to do and explore in this game, and you can do it on your PC with this software.

What may be less familiar to Nintendo fans is the failure of some doors to open and the illegibility of familiar landmarks such as chalkboards and signs. Story leads are sketchier, so it might be harder to understand what you're supposed to be doing next if you've never played the original Nintendo version.

It's still a fun diversion for your Windows computer and will give you a major dose of of nostalgia for a perennial favorite game. No matter how old you are now, playing a Pokemon game is still a great way to unwind after a hard day.
